Hillary author of year
(K.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 25. Sir Edmund Hillary is the winner of the 1975 James Wattie “Book of the Year” award, for his latest book. “Nothing Venture. Nothing Win,” published by Hodder and Stoughton. Sir Edmund’s daughter. Sarah, was presented with the $l2OO first prize today by Mr Donald McLeod, chairman oi directors of Wattie Industries, Ltd, at a function sponsored by the Book Publishers’ Association. The second prize of SBOO was awarded to Noel Hilliard, for his “Maori Woman,” published by Whitcoulls. Marti Friedlander and James McNeish won the third prize of $5OO for their book. “Larks in a Paradise,” published by Collins. There were 45 entries, compared with 35 last year. The judges were Mr T. O. Fitzgibbon (Auckland), and Mrs Fiona Kidman and Dr Brian Edwards (Wellington).
