When he was moving out on to the track Battle Sign propped and threw Simms on to the turf. Simins was able to prevent the colt from bolting, but lie came close to a collision. “Two horses were working on the sand track and I thought for a eouplc of seconds there might be a crash,” Simms said. “However they werq able to miss us without much trouble.” Battle Sign was unharmed in the incident and galloped easily. An offer of 3100,006 was made for Battle Sign, to his partowner and former trainer, George Walton, at Canterbury races yesterday, but he declined with a “Not interested.” The Epsom Handicap favourite, Leica Show, proved she lias recovered from her minor setback last week with a smooth 1200 m in 1:20.25 with her stablemate, Tuscany. After the gallop her Jockey, John Duggan, described Leica Show’s effort as "beautiful.” Leica Show will run in the Hill Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday wlille her half-brother, Leica Lover, will contest the Sydney Turf Club Cup. Leica Lover Is favourite for The Metropolitan at Randwlek on October 6.
