T.T. title race at Pukekohe
The first major road racing meeting of the 1975-76 season will be held at Auckland’s Pukekohe circuit on Saturday and the South Island will be strongly represented.
The main event will be the twenty-ninth New Zealand 350 c.c. T.T. championship, to be held over 20 miles. This was won last year by Trevor Discombe (Hamilton), and he must be the man to beat. Gary Boote (Christchurch), who has been provided with a new TZ3SO Yamaha by Levi’s, promises to provide the greatest challenge from the south. His recent suc-
cesses in South-East Asia suggest that he is riding better than ever before. There will be considerable interest in the outcome of the open events, especially the 17-mile Castrol Classic, because these could give a pointer to the Marlboro international rounds later in the season. Ginger Molloy (Hamilton) will be there with his 750 Kawasaki, Stewart Avant (Christchurch) will be riding either a 500 Suzuki or; a TZ7SO Yamaha and Boote will be racing his! TZ7SO Yamaha.
Paul McLauchlan (Christchurch) and Dennis Ireland (Dunedin) will also be mounted on TZ7SO Yamahas. John Woodley (Blenheim), winner of the 350 c.c. road series last summer, will be racing the 750 Suzuki formerly racec by the late Geoff Perry. Avant (Suzuki), Woodley (Suzuki), Boote (Yamaha and Discombe (Yamaha will all be leading con tenders for top honours i) the Geoff Perry Memori? race for machines up t 500 c.c.
