Marriage delays summit
| (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LUSAKA, Sept. 7. i A meeting of four African heads of State due to take place in Lusaka this weekend has been postponed because of the wedding today of President Samora Machel, of Mozambique, a senior spokesman for President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia has said.
The postponement of the meeting, of Presidents Kaunda, Machel, Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, and Seretse Khama of Botswana, was announced on Friday by a Foreign Affairs spokesman in Lusaka, but no reason was given.
The Presidential spokesman said it was known last Wednesday that the summit would have to be called off, but no official word could be given until news of Mr Machers marriage was released in Mozambique.
He said there was no truth in rumours that the summit had been called off because Zambia and Botswana backed one Rhodesian nationalist faction, the Zimbabwe African People’s Union, and Tanzania and | Mozambique another, the (Zimbabwe African National Union.
A major split between Z.A.N.U.' and Z.A.P.U. factions of Rhodesia’s African National Council, came into the open this week. They were united under an agreement signed in Lusaka last December and maintained that unity in I public until after the adjournment last week of Rhodesian Constitutional talks |at Victoria Falls.
