N.Z. to host congress

(N’.Z. Press Association/ WELLINGTON. The New Zealand Rugby football Union is to host an international Rugby congress in Auckland in 1977. The union’s council approved in principle plans for the proposed congress. Invitations are to go to all International Rugby Board ‘countries, France and Rumania. as well as Rugby 'unions in the Pacific, the Far and Near East, Canada, the ! United States, Mexico and ! South American States. A special general meeting of delegates in December will be asked formally to approve the new national interprovincia! Rugby competition. Mr R. C. Stuart told the N.Z.R.F.U. that draft plans for the new competition had been agreed to in principle by members of his sub-committee. He did not give any details of the scheme, which is to bring major changes to provincial I Rugby in 1976. ' One of the London’s top Rugby clubs. Blackheath, is to tour New Zealand early next year. Two of its six or seven matches will be played in Wellington as part of the Athletic club’s centenary celebrations.
