Seminar in Rangiora

Rangiora women will make their contribution to International Women’s Year activities on September 13. An all-day seminar, which will be open to the public as well as delegates from women’s organisations, has been organised by the Rangiora Labour Electorate Committee and will be held at the St John Ambulance Hail, Albert Street from 10 a.m.

In the morning, addresses will be given on health (Mary Batchelor, M.P.), employment (Hilary Jones), education (Mary Sinclair), social welfare (Cr Nancy Sutherland), and the women’s movement (Margaret Shields). In the afternoon discussion groups will be held on these topics, attended by the guest speakers. Spokeswomen for each group will give reports to the full seminar, after which a question-and-

answer session will be held. A wine and cheese evening will be held from 8 p.m. until midnight and guest speakers will be there for further discussion. During the day a creche will be open for children of mothers taking part in the seminar. It will be in the care of male members of the local Labour Party branch and qualified nurses. Rangiora men will also serve lunch and afternoon tea at the hall.
