S.F.M. still in

(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 28. Any thoughts that the Southland Frozen Meat and Produce Export Company might drop out of the battle for the New Zealand Refrigerating Company were dispelled after the S.F.M. board met in Invercargill today. S.F.M. decided to renew its bid to shareholders of N.Z.R., and will send a letter to all shareholders explaining why its bid for the company is a better proposition than the proposed merger between N.Z.R. and Waitaki Industries. In the letter the S.F.M. chairman (Mr A. F. Gilkison) thanked all N.Z.R. stockholders who sent proxies in favour of S.F.M. for the N.Z.R. extraordinary meeting in Christchurch this week. Mr Gilkison emphasised the alleged disadvantages of the Waitaki take-over,

and said that accepting the S.F.M. offer was the only way to stop it. The S.F.M. offer would be declared unconditional on receipt of 51 per cent of N.Z.R. shares.
