PONDING RULES
Additional conditions to control the New Zealand Refrigerating Company’s oxidation ponds and irrigation paddocks at Islington were approved at a meeting of the finance committee of the Paparua County Council on Monday. The council and the company have for some time being trying to eliminate smells. The chief health inspector (Mr G. W. L. Fairhall) said that the conditions covered "practically every aspect.” The company was doing a i lot of work to improve standards.
“We w’on’t know until next ■season, but I hope the position will be greatly improved,” said Mr Fairhall. ! His report dealt with Clean | Air Act requirements in 17 • big industrial operations, (where measures must be ( taken to control smoke, fumes, or dust.
