Forecasts: Marlborough, Nelson: cold south-easterlies, strong about the outer Sounds but mainly moderate elsewhere; patches of light rain, chiefly about the high country, and a few

showers along the Kaikoura coast. Buller, Westland: moderate south-easterlies; fine, apart from areas of cloud in the north; rather mild. Canterbury: cold southerly or easterly winds, fresh in some exposed places; some further light showers, chiefly about the coast, gradually clearing from the south.

Outlook: fair in the east, fine in the west.
