SCHOOLS SOCCER

Twenty teams — nine from Canterbury and 11 from other centres — will take part in the New Zealand secondary school soccer tournament in Christchurch next week.

They have been divided — in World Cup style — into four groups, and after a round-robin series the top two in each section will qualify for the quarterfinals.

Matches will be played on five grounds at St Thomas’ College. Middlepark Road, from Monday to Friday. The groups are:A: Christchurch, Takapuna, Middleton Grange, Taieri, Manurewa.
