The new base price of 36.55 c per lb effective from Monday, August 25, is still lower than the Alcan world price of 39 US cents per lb C.I.F. main ports. Giant div. tax-free Giant Industries, Ltd, now plans to pay a dividend of 5c a share, for the year to March 31 from realised capital gains, making it tax-free in the hands of shareholders. The International Primary Aluminium Institute reports that its members produced 799,000 tonnes of primary aluminium in July compared with 776,000 tonnes in June, and 933,000 tonnes in July 1974.
