SLIP ALTERS COURSE

Th* big slip on the Summit Road caused by haavy rain has caused the United Harrier Club to alter the route of the anuat Port Hills inter-club relay race today. The slip—so yards wide and 100 yards long—near the Rapakl Saddle, has blocked the second lap of the 22-mlle. five-lap race. This win now be on the flat around the base of the Port Hills. It is believed te be the first time in the history of harrier racing in Canterbury that a course has had to be changed at the last minute because of such an obstruction.

The race manager, Hr Daidd Cutting, said: “The road along the summit by the Sugarloaf is just a torrent of mud and water.
