1.25m out of work in Britain
tßy DAVID BARBER, N.Z.P.A. staff correspondent) LONDON, August 22. More than 1.25 million Britons are out of work — the highest number since the war. On official figures, 5.4 per] I cent of the working population is unemployed and drawing unemployment benefit. Included in the list are : 165,623 school-leavers — and the Prime Minister (Mr Wilson) warned the nation in a crisis television broadcast last night that the situation was “getting more igrim each month.”
