TRADE WITH KOREA
The Republic of Korea exported goods worth $7,868 million to New Zealand in 1974 and imported goods worth $16,779 million in return. Both imports and exports rose substantially in the three years from 1972-74. Korean exports to New Zealand were worth $1,456
million in 1972 and $4,169 million in 1973, white imports from New Zealand were worth $6,001 million in 1972 and $14,959 million in 1973. Korea’s chief exports to New- Zealand in 1974 were iron and steel plates and sheets (worth $4,449 million), non-cotton woven textile fabrics ($1499 million), special textile fabrics ($O-306 million), clothing ($0.154 million), tobacco
($0,163 million), toys and sporting goods ($0,123 million), musical instruments ($O,llO million), cutlery ($0,106 million), household equipment ($0,094 million), clay construction materials ($0,089 million), and others ($0,775 million). Its chief imports from New Zealand in the same year ' were sheep meats ($11.94 million), live animals ($1,061 million), logs
and other wood ($1,237 million), wool ($0.89 million), aluminium ($0,578 million), hides and skins ($0,255 million), crude animal materials ($0,227 million), animal oils and fats ($0,186 million), feeding stuff for animals ($0,072 million), inorganic chemicals ($0,048 million), and others ($0.282 million).
