Many join orchestra

Thirty-nine players have accepted positions in the orchestra being formed by the Christchurch Orchestra Trust. The chairman of the trust board, (Mr E. J. Bradshaw) said that of the 47 people approached, only eight had declined to join the orchestra. Mr Bradshaw described the result as a “very encouraging start.” He said that it would provide “a good base on which to build a first-class orchestra for Christchurch.”
