Use of headlights by day

Sir, — I support “What’s Wrong With Daylight,” and Join with him in expressing 'opposition to any move to 'compel motor-vehicles to [travel with switched-on ! headlights during daylight ! hours. I am sure that there are thousands of motorists like us, whose concentration is not helped by the glaring lights of approaching traffic. To contemplate all traffic on main highways and city [streets travelling with [lighted lamps every day, is ■to me something of a nightimare, and will cause many I pedestrians, as well as motorists, to blink their eyel lids. Road users opposing the compulsory illumination (of headlamps during the [daytime, should make their (voices heard loud and clear, .and do everything within ! their power, to prevent the [ enactment of the necessary ! legislation. Driving with [lights on during daylight is iunlikely to reduce the road [toll, but vehicle maintenance ■ costs will undoubtedly inIcrease. — Yours, etc., BE REASONABLE. August 8. 1975. [This correspondence is now closed.—Editor.!
