Centennial Park stadium

Sir, — Despite many, people’s belief to the contrary. the proposed sports stadium at Centennial Park, does have something to commend it. It should stop the Citizen’s council’s obsession with the city funds' “squandered” at Queen Elizabeth II Park. Mr Hay knows, and has often pointed out, that original estimates are often well below final actual cost, so I wonder what his $2.2 million will escalate to? I suggest iti will make the $150,000 Gov-, ernment regional subsidy look rather insignificant., Unless Mr Hay can showj that the other local author-' ities. whose residents he claims will be served by this facility, are prepared to make a practical contribution. he had better shelve the scheme until the city property owners have recovered from the shock of their rate demands. —Yours, etc.,, P.
