Champion retaliates

The World Boxing Association light-weight champion,, Roberto Duran, of Panama, registered two knock-outs; within about 30 seconds, but’ he cannot be very proud of one of them. In a scheduled 10-round bout against Pedro Mendoza, of Nicaragua, Duran registered a knock-out in 27 seconds of the non-title contest. Then a woman, later; identified as Miss Eleonora Baca, jumped into the ring, screaming at Duran: “I hate, you. I hate you. You’re the worst person ever to visit Nicaragua.” Miss Baca struck Duran, and the champion swung back with a right to her jaw. As she collapsed, the police moved in and escorted Duran to the safety of his locker room. Duran went home to Panama the next day.
