Road survey suggested
1 he Akaroa County Council should determine its main traffic routes and indicate them in its planning scheme, said Mr J. L. Robb, for the Canterbury Regional Planning Authority, at the council's town-planning hearings. Mr Robb asked that, if possible, the survey be made before October 3’l, so that the county’s main roads could be included in the regional network in the authority’s reviewed master transportation plan. In addition to the State Highway and the Hill TopCabstand section of the Sum;mit Road, main routes would need protection as to access ■and land use along them. These roads needed a lot of protection to preserve their Traffic capacity. He asked the council to develop its road system, control it, and make improvements.
