Horse team for Europe

(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS

A New Zealand showjumping team to tour Europe early next year, has been named by the director of the Horse Society (Mr I. A. Nimon). Three riders and six horses will leave in February. The team named was: John Cottle (Wellington), riding Rifleman and Red Coat; Joe Yorke (Bulls). Big Red; Harvey Wilson (Waitotara), Tussock and Cranleigh. A Canterbury horse, Mighty Tarn, and an Auckland showjumper, Ladies’ Man, will also go. Mr Nimon said the tour would cost about $45,000, most of which would be met by the society. However, about $20,000 was still needed and would be raised through the society and by a public campaign.
