Young girls in ship
(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA, July 23. Eight Gisborne girls aged from 13 to 17 were found in an overseas ship berthed at Tauranga yesterday afternoon and an 11-year-old was discovered later in Mount Maunganui township, the Tauranga police reported today. Senior-Sergeant M. K.| Huggard said that three girls' were reported missing from' Gisborne on Monday and: from information received it) was believed they might be) on board the ship, which) had left Gisborne from Tau-i ranga. However, when the Mount: Maunganui police and cus-j toms officers searched the ship, they discovered eight Gisborne girls, he said. The 11-year-old was found' on shore later. Senior-Sergeant Huggard said the girls were being returned to Gisborne.
