Tongan to stay
(N.Z.P.A. Staff Crspdt) SYDNEY. Sanitesi Latu, the Tongan decathlon star, has been given permanent residence in Australia. Latu, aged 24. gained a surprise fifteenth place in the Commonwealth Games at Christchurch and won the Australian decathlon the same year. Since the Games he has worked as a storeman in Melbourne, and has been coached by Allan Barlow with the 1976 Olympics in view. ■ He faced deportation last ; November when his entry permit expired, and athletics 1 officials have been campaign- : ing since then to keep the ’ Tongan in Australia. 7 Latu said today that he ’ I would train under Barlow
