N.Z. softball victories
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) KINGMAN (Arizona)i The New Zealand men’s softball team beat the Kingman champion, Torquoise Kings, in a double-header, winning its matches 7-3 and 1-0. New Zealand played its best softball to date. Kevin Herlihy out-pitched the Kings in the first game to take 11 strike-outs. . Basil McLean, Peter Hartly, Dave Sorenson, and Leslie Whakataka all batted two hits, while one run came for New Zealand in the second . innings, five in the fourth, and one in the fifth.
The winning run in the second game came in the fourth innings. Owen Walford struck out 10 batters. New Zealand has now played eight games for six wins and two draws. It now moves to Phoenix to play another two games.
