Scientific award

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 30.

Mr R. C. Hayes, who was superintendent of the Seismological Observatory in Wellington from 1936 to 1960, was presented with the Hector Medal in Auckland tonight. The medal is the highest scientific award of the Royal Society of New Zealand, and was presented to Mr Hayes by the society’s president (Sir Malcolm Burns), for his ; pioneer research on seismology.
