This 70-ton transformer being carried for the Electricty Department by Durhams Transport, Ltd, was delayed at the Clarence Street level crossing yesterday while the Railway Department provided additional safeguards to ensure that the lines remained clear while the heavy load crossed slowly. The transformer was being taken from the Islington sub-station to the Bromley sub-station.
