LUCAN CASE
New lead to be checked (N.Z.P. A.Reuter —Copyright) CHERBOURG, June 30. Two Scotland Yard murder squad detectives hunting for the missing British peer. Lord Lucan, who has been named by an inquest jury as the murderer of his children’s [nanny, returned home today empty-handed. But they will be checking a new report, by a British tourist, that Lord Lucan was at a small hotel near the English Channel port of Cherbourg three weeks ago. The two detectives, Chief Superintendent Roy Ranson and Inspector David Gerring,! have spent the last six days[ combing French ports around! Cherbourg, sightings of the missing peer having been reported in the area.
The Scotland Yard men came to France last Tuesday, after a Cherbourg hotelier, Mrs Suzanne Guilpan, and her staff had said they were certain that Lord Lucan stayed there several times between March and May.
