Rangers reply

A “strong rebuttal” to remarks about national park rangers has been made by the president of the National Parks and Reserves Rangers’ Association, Mr C. Rennison, of Takaka. It was reported that some members at a meeting of the Lincoln College council “criticised rangers who indulged their hobbies in the parks and gave no service to the public.”

“Rangers are chosen because they can bring a combination of aptitudes to the job they have taken up. No ranger has the time to indulge in his hobbies when at work since his tasks are too demanding.

"We object to the use of damaging and unsubstantiated allegations and question the council members’ competence to make them.”
