Gay Lib. ‘strategies’
Christchurch Gay Liberation Front was beginning election strategies which could seriously affect the Labour Party and other M.P.s who were antihomosexual, a spokesman for the Front (Mr M. Waghome) ; said on Thursday evening. I Mr Waghome said he 'would not specify what these i strategies were, but said that ; moves were well under way :and the organisation had 'approached the Prime Minis- ' ter. When Dr Wall had said the homosexual legislation would i not affect voting he was ■wrong. He had conveniently forgotten the Values and Social Credit parties, Mr Waghome said. The Liberation Front’s strategies could affect marginal seats and these areas would probably receive attention from Front members campaigning for other parties. Commenting on remarks made by Mr Rowling that the House was not in the mood to discuss homosexuality, Mr Waghorne said that New Zealand’s 75.000 to 150,000 homosexuals were not in the mood to tolerate politicians who were exhausted by having to use their consciences every three years as in the abortion debate.
