Lucy's Dream fancied at Blenheim today
W hen Lucy 's Dream began compiling a useful string of minor placings back in the spring it seemed likely she would not be long winning her way out of maidens.
Although that first Min has proved elusive to date there seems every chance she will end her five-year-old racing with a victory in the President's Handicap at Blenheim today. After a brief bleak patch Lucy's Dream is right back in form and will be one of the top fancies for the first leg of the Marlborough Trotting Club’s double for course patrons only. The Lumber Dream mare s la-t four starts have yielded
two fourths, a second and a third. Her second was behind Attention at Nelson last Tuesday week and her latest placing was behind Tina Dancer and Colin Kirk at Rangiora on Wednesday. On recent form her two hardest rivals should be Black Marauder and Andy 1 Twinkle. The former was the best of Nimrod King's rivals! at Rangiora on Wednesday and Andy Twinkle will be '.trying to improve on two; sound runs at Nelson for a 1 second and fifth. Birthday Gamble, the run-ner-up to Bachelor’s Privi-i lege at Ashburton - three'
. weeks ago will probably be a firm favourite for the Clarendon Hotel Handicap, second leg of the course double. Apart from Birthday Gamble there are few which could be recommended but Nelson form will have proved valuable if Hollywood. a last-start third there, and Mighty Eagle, an improver’s fifth, get into the finish. Sidestep and Doctor Voss, j which both came through the Nelson meeting with winning runs on their records, wili be two of the ; most popular fancies for the Marlborough Winter Cup, first leg of the T.A.B. double. Nelson form is also expected to have a strong bearing on the outcome of the Meadowlands Stud Handicap, second leg of the main double. The prospects of Panther Lopez. Irish Rhythm and Armbro Don are highly rated.
