Spy satellite launched

The Air Force launched a i secret experimental spy satelI lite into what was believed ito be a stationary orbit over i the Soviet Union or China at dawn yesterday. The Air Force had declined I comment on any pending ) launching, although such a venture had been rumoured for months. Unofficial sources said that i the satellite was a highly advanced version of a series which carry sensitive cameras ] and infra-red equinment to I keep watch over the Soviet I Union and China and provide almost instant warning ‘of anv missile attack against the United States.
Such satellites can provide 30 minutes warning of a landbased 1.C.8.M. attack and about 10 minutes alert on shorter range submarine launched missiles, sources said.
