‘Banana man’ gaoled

Press Association* AUCKLAND. | A young man who, after' attempting to rob a dairy, stood and ate a bananaj while waiting for the police' 'to arrive, has been sentenced to two years and a half itn-i prisonment. In the North Shore] Magistrate’s Court, before; ( Mr J. H. Murray, S.M., Paul ■ James Sullivan, aged 21, un-i employed, admitted a charge: of attempting to rob Selwyn! Fisk of S2OO last Wednesday, night. During the incident in the shop Mr Fisk grabbed a chair and held Sullivan at bay with it. Sullivan picked up a banana and was still i eating it when the police: arrived.
