WILLESEE IN TOKYO

The Australian Foreign Minister (Senator Don Willesee) has given an extensive briefing to his Japanese counterpart, Mr Kiichi Miyazawa, on his recent visits to China and North Korea.
Official sources in Tokyo said the briefing dominated talks lasting more than an hour between the two Ministers late yesterday afternoon.
i The sources said other matters discussed included ;Indo-China. South-East Asia, !and Japan’s relations with the Soviet Union and China, including the proposed SinoJapanese friendship treaty. Mr Miyazawa is understood to have told Mr Willesee that the Chinese want it written into the treaty that neither China nor Japan will tolerate the imposition of hegemony by a third Power in the region.
