Hunt, said today he would take steps for the repeal of the Hospitals Amendment Act, which restricts abortions to public hospitals and specially registered private hospitals. Elaborating on a statement he made at Hawera last night, Mr Hunt said today that before making any move he would wait to see whether) the Royal Commission on' contraception. sterilisation i and abortion proposed any legislation which would 1 effectively repeal the legisla-1 tion which resulted from Dr' G. A. Wall’s private mem- i ber’s bill. If he were not satisfied with what came from the I Royal Commission he would; support any colleague who introduced a private member’s bill to repeal the act. Failing that he would be, prepared to propose some; measure himself, said Mr' Hunt. However, he thought the Royal Commission would | come down with “some; reasonable solution” to the' difficulties arising from Dr Wall’s biil.
