Rolleston

Sir. — I read with interest the remarks in “The Press” by an official of the Ministry of Works with regard to the block of land in Gould’s Road owned by South Road Farm Ltd. The owner of this land holds a signed letter from the Minister of Works (Mr Connelly) releasing this area of 84 acres from the proposed new town. There

has been no indication from the Minister of any “clerical error.” In the absence of this I can only suggest that the official’s remarks represent his personal opinions only. When “The Press” published its map on Monday showing the land that had been excluded, this correctly -showed the areas released by the Minister. It seems that once again there is confusion in Government circles over what is actually happening or is supposed to happen about Rolleston. — Yours,-etc., D. C. WATSON. Chairman, Rolleston Landowners’ Committee. June 18, 1975.
