Extensions for TV2 planned
Plans have already been drawn up to expand the engineering facilities for the studios, microwave distribution system and the transmitting stations to enable the TV2 programme to extend to all parts of the country. The introduction of new services, like all major engineering projects, will depend on the availability of men and money. Engineering and related staff in the Broadcasting Council of New Zealand will continue to design and provide major studio and transmission facilities. The TV2 engineering staff will be fully occupied in maintaining and improving the complex array of studio equipment inherited from the former New Zealand Broadcasting -Corporation.
The establishment of complex studio facilities and seven major TV2 stations within the next year, if accomplished, will set a remarkable record of achievement for a country with a population of three million. The technical standard of the completed project should match that of any other country. Until the first phase of the TV2 project is finished next year, viewers should exercise a little tolerance and understanding when things don’t quite work out on the technical side. There is mighty effort being made to give New Zealand viewers the best service possible within the financial and manpower , resources available.
