Move on Moon treaty

June 12. ; The United States has called for an international treaty on the exploration of the Moon and other celestial I bodies to be completed withI out waiting for agreement on the exploitation of their natural resources. The United States Ambassador. Mr Tapley Bennett, told the United Nations committee on peaceful uses of outer space that it was unnecessary to delay the part “just because of provisions which would not realistically have significance for some time to come. “In spite of the extensive efforts made, it seems that we are prevented from completing this treaty because of factors not directly related to 1 the exploration and use of | outer space,” he said.
