Strong field for greyhound open
A top-class field will contest the final of the open fiat at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club's meeting at Marshland Domain today.
Sally Havoc, the joint track record-holder, won her, heat impressively on Saturday and will start as favourite. But success will not be easy for the little brindle. She has drawn box three and the two longtails inside her, Rise and Shine and Rex Havoc, are both noted good beginners who should have the initial pace to force her wide at the first bend.
Although the winner is likely to be either Sally Havoc or Rise and Shine, the chances of Red Baron and Tip Top cannot be discounted. ; Both have drawn wide, but Red Baron, the national champion. extended Sally Havoc in the heats on Saturday and is rapidly approaching peak form after being set back by a paw injury, , One of the most interesting races should be the open hurdles Where, Bill Kingston’s well

The Huntress, Farloc, Golden Weaver. Race four.—Rise and Shine, Rex Havoc, Sally Havoc, Scorcher, Lady Dawn, Tip Top, Kenrick Lady. Red Baron. Race five.—Hobbs Galore, Sweet. Chariot, European Moss, Real Success, Fore Dreamer, Star Havoc Silver Beau, Scrappy Wave.
Race six.—Olympic Lady. Silver Knight, Tiger Moss, Smokey Eyes, Jetmate. Mister Hobbs, Ben Jipcho, Roi Tan. Race seven.—Smokey Eyes, Invader, European Moss, Gay Jet, Little .Vixen, Real Success. Star Gazer. Lobell Moss.
