Divisional Cavalry veterans parade
About 350 former members of the New Zealand Divisional Cavalry attended their biennial reunion in Christchurch at the week-end.
Members came from as fari as Invercargill and Kaitaia.i and a former commander of| the regiment. Brigadier I. L.j Bonifant, made a special ttipj from Sydney. The reunion began on Friday night with a social even-! ing, and on Saturday members toured Christchurch in a bus. The afternoon was left! free for those who wanted toi [see the Scotland v. Canter-! i bun’ Rugby match. A cabaret ‘ was held in the evening. Yesterday morning, the] .men assembled near rhu White Heron Hotel and; marched to the Brevet Club for a church service. The parade was led bv the Christchurch Pipe Band, and a Colour party from the First I New Zealand Scots Regi-; 1 ment. A fully equipped armoured personnel carrier from Burn-, ham Military Camp had been! brought up for the occasion.; and a wreath was laid on it; in memory of the fallen. lesson was read by the Rt Rev. A. K. Warren, a former Bishop of Christchurch and a former padre of the regi--1 ment. The speaker was Mr |C. H. Upham, V.C. and Bar. A buffet tea last evening ■ concluded the reunion. Officers elected at the general meeting of the regimental association were: Patron. Mr J. K. ;Wardell, of Christchurch; vicepatron, Mr J. G.
