Soviet tests in Pacific

(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) MOSCOW, June 1 The Soviet Union last night announced, it wpuld begin a four-week missile launching test programme over the Pacific, on ■ Tuesday, lasting until June 27. The official Soviet news agency Tass warned shipping to keep clear of the test area, which it gave as being a radius of 130 nautical miles from latitude 34 degrees 49 minutes north and longitude 177. degrees 14 minutes west. The test series will be the longest of its kind by th# Soviet Union. Earlier today, Pentagon sources in Washington reported that the Soviet Union was preparing to test lohgrange multiple-warhead mis* siles in the area, and sfifl five Soviet detector shift had already taken up position 400-miles from Midway Island.
