Situations Vacant AUCKLAND REGIONAL AUTHORITY Transport Division THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS have become available through the reorganisation of the Division. OPERATIONS SUPERINTENDENT The Operations Superintendent will be responsible for the management of the bus services, the maintenance of good discipline and the training and development of staff under his control. He will be responsible for the co-ordination of the day/day bus services from the Authority’s five major bus depots which employ over 850 operators and operate a total fleet of approximately 650 buses. The position calls for a broad knowledge of bus operations but the essential requirements are man management, leadership and administrative ability, and this officer must be able to maintain a high level of discipline and efficiency through his Depot Managers. Applicants are required to have had at least 10 years practical experience in public transport. Institute of Traffic or Institute of Management examinations or equivalent qualifications are desirable. Salary range: $8156-89411 p.a. (plus $3.00 per week C.O.L. order). DEPOT MANAGERS (5 POSITIONS) Applications are invited for the positions of Depot Manager at each of five depots (i.e, Roskill, Shore, Onehunga, Wiri, City). The Authority’s trahsport services comprise approximately 180,000 trips per month and carry one million people each week. Each of the five depots has approximately 120 buses and 150 operators. It is desirable that applicants have had at least 10 years experience in public transport and it would be an advantage that they hold Institute of Traffic or Institute of Managements examinations or equivalent qualifications. The Depot Manager will be responsible for the efficient and economic operation of the Depot, the maintenance of good discipline and the training and development of staff under his control. The position calls for an administrator with proven management skills who can co-ordinate a diverse range of functions. As supporting specialist staff are available applicants with broad administrative experience, rather than technical experience, in either operation or maintenance of a bus fleet, will be preferred. INFORMATION OFFICER TRANSPORT DIVISION This position is concerned with the promotion and marketing of public transport and essentially requires a person with experience .in administration and marketing who has the tact to communicate continuously with the public in the execution of his duties so that the corporate image of public transport is enhanced and maintained. A diploma or technical qualification in marketing is desirable but the appointee will be required to have had a minimum of two years experience in marketing.
