Norris wins pairs
Vern Norris and Mrs Glenys Norris led by six shots before withstanding- a fine come-back by Cliff North and John Lackle to win the final of the Canterbury indoor bowls pairs title, 10-», on Saturday.
The successful pair built up their lead over the first five ends, before North and Lackle claimed a single on the sixth, then a two. and tied the game when Norris trailed the jack off the mat to finish the eighth end. A single to North at his next return to the mat placed him ahead for the first time, but Norris drew accurately to take two shots at each of the next two ends. Although Norris opened the head on the last end, North could only manage two points when three were required to draw level.
