Canal risk
Ships using the Suez Canal after its reopening next month will face much higher insurance premiums, the chairman of Lloyd’s, the underwriters, said yesterday. Mr Havelock Hudson explained: “Considering the thousands of explosives that went into the canal, the fact that the Israelis are only 15 miles from the canal, and that there is no permanent peace in the Middle East, there is the ever-present risk of a ■ catastrophe.”—Stockholme, May 15.
