HIGH CARPET, LOW PRICE

(N.Z. Press Association)

NELSON, May 15.

Carpet with a built-in aroma of beer is likely to be offered at sale price in Nelson shortly.

A Nelson furnisher sees no difficulty in promoting interest in the sale and has already come up with advertising lines such as “carpet with a half-cut pile.”

Two $5OO rolls of carpet were delivered this morning absolutely soaked in beer. It is believed that an over-heavy hand at shunting during the delivery trip by rail and road from Christchurch resulted in a heavy beer loss — and wet carpet.

The firm concerned will run out the rolls and dry the carpet, make an insurance claim, and sell the consignment at a cut price.
