Grants for welfare

WELLINGTON. The Lottery Board of Control has allocated $500,000 from lottery profits for grants to welfare services during the 1975-76 financial year.

Another $450,000 has been allocated for welfare of the aged.

They are the biggest allocations in a list totalling $2,580,000 announced bv the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr May) who is chairman of the board. Other allocations are: Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council for general purposes, 8285,000: Queen Elizabeth Arts Council to .capital works for theatres and concert auditoria, $250,000; medical research, $250,000} scientific research, $250,000; surf lifesaving for buildings and equipment, $250,000; Historic Places Trust to help purchase places or sites, $120,000; Water Safety Council, $120,000; Mountain Safety Council, $75,000; AntiLitter Campaign Council, $25,000; Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. $15,000.
