Vacant lots in bays

Church and Charteris bays had about 130 vacant residential lots and undeveloped land for another 300 lots, the council’s town-planning adviser, Mr J. G. Dryden, told the Mount Herbert County Council planning scheme review hearing yesterday. He said that there were now about 200 houses in the two bays, and that it was sound planning practice to see that existing residential land was substantially developed before expansion was allowed. This could not be considered until decisions had been made on services, especially sewage disposal. Mr Dryden was opposing an objection by Messrs G. R Bryant and C. M. Stock, who wanted residential zoning for land bounded by Hunters Road, Bay View Road, and Church Bay Gully.
