The Government should decide j only how many licences lor race - meetings are issued each year,) the chairman of the New Zea- ! land Racing Authority (Mr H G., F. Callam) has said. Mr Callam said the Govern-! ment should delegate to the , authority’ the responsibility to j allocate licences between codes and within them.
The allocation of dates, he said, would be primarily a domes-! tic matter for the conferences.! Mr Callam suggested 5001 licences should be issued, all ati the outset, at present the num-; her is 456.
