Adamson moves north

Canterbury’ will be without lhe services of one of its best table tennis players, Wayne Adamson, for this season at least, and possibly longer.

Adamson, who turned 20 earlier this month, has decided to move to the North Island and will represent Franklin this winter. For lhe last two years Adamson has been a key member of the Canterbury Kean Shield team, Which has won the national men’s interassociation title for three successive years.

Since 1973 he has represented the South Island and has held a placing on the New Zealand senior ranking list. Noted for h<s aggressive game based on a variety of spin serves and powerful, looped forehands, Adamson has made more than 30 firstclass appearances. A top-ranking New Zealand

But it will be from opposite ends of the table as it seems certain the eighthranked national player will be included in the Franklin Kean Shield team. Adamson’s future plans are not yet settled. “I will definitely spend this season in Franklin, but if things do not work out. I’ll probably return to Christchurch,” he said.
