Tournament to United
1 Christchurch United yesterday won the Rangers pre-season Junior invitation Tournament Cup at Cuthberts Green. I Wainoni. with an average of 7.2 points for its four teams competing. More than 450 boys from Canterbury clubs took part in 105 matches of 20 minutes duration from 9 a.m. to 2.45 p.m., and the I presentation of the cup was I made bv the president of the I New Zealand and Canterbury Junior Football Associations (Mr Alan Fraser). The winner was worked out on the total number of points' I scored by each club being divided by its number of teams competing, to give the average points I per team. ! Shamrock was second with an average of 6.4 points per team, and Burndale was third with an average of 6.1 points per team. The tournament was started in 1971, when Western won. and the cup had been won by Burndale for the last three years. Matches were held in all age . groups through from nine years ' to 15 years, and about 25 junior ' and senior referees controlled the matches.
