Cecil Peak uncertainty
<A.Z. Prett Axsoetativui WELLINGTON The Minister of Lands (Mr Rata) says he cannot say ’ what will happen to Cecil Peak station if the Govern- ' ment should acquire it. He said today that he was Waiting for an American firm, Alexander Dawson, which brought the station for $340,000 at a Queenstown public auction, to make an offer to the Government I The compans holds the 'first and second mortgages ion the property. Mr Rata is determined that the station should remain in New Zealand hands. He said he presumed a starting point for negotiations would be the price the company paid for the property He was awaiting a report from the Commissioner of j Crown Lands on the best course of action.
