OUTSIDE DRIVES
Contestants in i championship i The question of a driver i competing in the World Trotting Driving Championship driving outside horses during the series is likely to be resolved at a meeting of the organisation running the present series in Australia and New Zealand. According to the president (Dr H. Mulheims), there is nothing in the regulations governing the series to prevent a driver taking part in races other than those of the championship. It had been 'allowed in Europe. As a result Peter WoolfenIden was allowed to drive Marie Gibbins in the New [Zealand Standardbred ■Breeders’ Stakes at Addington Raceway last evening and Ihe will be able to take outiside drives at Alexandra Park on Saturday. ] European officials said last 'evening that they felt the regulations should be tightened up and that they were strongly opposed to championship drivers competing in other races. Should 'an outside driver be injured iin a race it would be impossible to arrange for a replacement and much interest would be taken from the series.
